Clear for Take off
A message from Safety Office Gary Cooper.
"I would like to point out that, all pilot's should make sure the Air Space is clear of approaching craft at all time's before bringing their wings up!!!
This is very basic stuff, but today (Saturday 10th oct) saw it cause a serious injury to a pilot about to land. A totally avoidable incident!
In future, I will look to get all landings restricted to the top landing area, to the right of take of, looking out over gliding club."
I think Gary makes a good point.
Please can you ALL take this on board. As well as ensuring the air is clear to launch we have to make sure it is clear to land when on approach. We are getting busier and we have many differing levels of pilot. So, on busy days, even if you are a very experienced and skilled pilot please lead the way (and set an example) by landing in a safe area away from other pilots. The designated top landing area is to the right of middle launch or at the bottom.
Thank you.
